Your Role at Expanish

As a member of the Operations team in Barcelona, you will play a key role in creating memorable academic and professional experiences for our students. We’re seeking a highly organized, customer-focused individual with strong interpersonal skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to effectively address student needs in both academic and internship settings.

In this hybrid role, you’ll be responsible for coordinating academic programs and internship placements, supporting students throughout their learning journey, and fostering strong relationships with faculty, companies, and students. You’ll work closely with both the Academics and Internships departments to ensure the smooth delivery of classes, professional experiences, and advising.


Position Details

  • Position Title: Internships and Academic Coordinator
  • Location: Barcelona and Surroundings
  • Hours: Full Time
  • Contract Type: Temporary (April - December 2025) Note: Possibility of extension depending on performance and program needs

Key Responsibilities

Academic Coordination

  • Lead all aspects of the academic program, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Provide personalized academic advising to students, particularly large university cohorts.
  • Serve as a liaison between faculty and students, managing communication and resolving academic issues.
  • Design and manage academic schedules, including add/drop periods.
  • Review course syllabi and ensure compliance with academic policies and templates.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of academic classes and activities.
  • Support faculty with administrative needs and ensure accommodations for exams are arranged.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of academic processes and student experiences.
  • Participate in program activities: orientation sessions, student welcome/farewell events, academic and professional activities, and arrival logistics.
  • Step in to teach Spanish language classes when needed.

Internship Coordination

  • Lead all aspects of the internship program, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Research and develop partnerships with local businesses to host student interns.
  • Match students with suitable internship placements based on skills and academic background.
  • Maintain updated records of contacts, placement opportunities, and intern progress.
  • Mentor, guide and support students and host companies throughout the placement lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with faculty, students, and partner companies to ensure smooth collaboration.
  • Deliver the Academic portion of the Internship Program.
  • Evaluate and optimize the internship program’s effectiveness.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in the company’s emergency phone rotation and provide support when needed.
  • Mentor and engage with students throughout their stay.
  • Collaborate with other departments and support additional tasks when required.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–5 years of experience in academic coordination, internship program management, career services, or related areas.
  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. higher education system and/or the Barcelona business ecosystem.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; capable of connecting with students, faculty, and external partners.
  • Energetic, proactive, and solutions-driven team player.
  • Native-level Spanish and advanced English; Catalan is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • Valid Spanish work permit.
  • A genuine interest in international education and student development.
